The book was released in 1963 and topped the New York best seller list for a staggering 63 weeks. In 1965 the book was adapted into a film directed by Martin Ritt and staring Richard Burton.

Academy Award winner, Simon Beaufoy (“Slumdog Millionaire”) will adapt the novel to be distributed my Paramount internationally.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be working on the best Cold War spy story ever written,” said writer Simon Beaufoy.
